GENERAL TIPS
#1 PUBLIC TRANSPORT
The U-Bahn (subway), S-Bahn (commuter train), trams, and buses will get you pretty much anywhere. Get a Day Ticket or IsarCard if you're staying longer. It’s cheaper than buying single rides. Also, watch out: ticket inspectors don’t wear uniforms.
Munich also is bike-friendly, but full of aggressive cyclists.
#2 SUNDAYS = EVERYTHING IS CLOSED
No shopping, no supermarkets. Just bakeries and some gas stations. Plus, even on regular days, all supermarkets close at 20:00 (8 PM), no exceptions. Plan ahead unless you want to survive on vending machine snacks.
#3 TIPPING
Round up to the nearest euro or add about 5-10% in restaurants. No need to leave money on the table, tell the waiter the total when paying.
#5 LIMITED LATE NIGHT EATS
After midnight, your best bet for food is kebabs, McDonald’s, or 24h gas stations. Plan accordingly if you don’t want to end up starving.
